Limitations of Liquid Metals
Liquid metals can be used to create incredibly stunning, impactful feature walls, but due to the nature of the products, there are some limitations on where they can be used.
Generally, we only recommend that they are used for feature walls outside of wet areas, the guide below explains why.
Unlike Microne & Microne Plus, that we usually recommend for bathrooms & worktops, the liquid metals are dependent on the sealer to make them waterproof. If any water gets behind the sealer, it could leave a stain in the surface. For this reason, we don’t generally recommend them application on these surfaces.
The sealers do also change the appearance of the liquid metals. For oxidised metals, they can lose some of their vibrancy when sealed. Whilst the polished metals dull down to become more matt.
If you still want to go ahead, then we would recommend following the process for the liquid metals (including base coats). Then seal oxidised metals well with solvent based sealer, MaxiPur.
Polished metals can be sealed with either MaxiPur or Polyshield, which has a high gloss finish so will retain more of the polished effect. These sealers are not included in the kits, so would need to be purchased separately.
