Terrazzo Flakes are added to Microne Plus® Coarse to give a terrazzo effect to this extra strong microcement. The terrazzo are made up of irregular shaped black, grey, brown and white PVA flakes of 1-3mm. Microne Plus® has a performance that far exceeds that of single component microcements. It’s more stain resistant, heat resistance and the compressive strength is significantly higher at 50 MPa. Highly recommended for high traffic areas, worktops and for use with underfloor heating.

Microne Plus Coarse Terrazzo Effect is a microcement top coat that is usually applied in 1 coats on top of Microne Base to give a terrazzo effect. Once the microcement is dry, it can be sanded back to reveal the terrazzo effect.

The new formula of the Microne® microcement line, based on polyurethane, is characterised by being the most versatile lines, as it consists of two possible products in one.

Microne® can be applied in a single-component, as ‘ready-to-use’ microcement with a hardness of 27 MPa. Choose Microne Plus ‘dual component’ microcement with the addition of Microne Plus Comp B (Catalyst), which increases its hardness to 50 MPa.

Microne® Plus has excellent surface hardness, adhesion, impact resistance and resistance to abrasion.   It has a far superior resistance to heat and staining when compared to the single-component alternative.

Unlike may microcements on the market, Microne is completely waterproof, even before sealers. This is essential for wet environments like showers, wet rooms and bathrooms. Where it does the jobs of a tanking product and a decorative surface finish in one.

Microne® is pre-mixed with the colour of your choice, according to strict colour quality control systems in our UK warehouse.

Thanks to its high impermeability it is not necessary to apply pre-sealers, two coats of AquaMax is enough to avoid dust and stains.  Which, due to the low absorption rate of Microne®, is extremely easy to apply.

Microne® facilitates one of the quickest microcement installation times known at 3 – 4 days.

Microne is the ideal choice for:

  • Tanking and decorating shower enclosures, shower trays, wet rooms and bathrooms
  • Highly decorative continuous coatings for interior floors, walls and ceilings
  • Coating of interior and exterior furniture, shelves, kitchen countertops, counters
  • Not suitable for swimming pools or continuously immersed surfaces
  • Covering of old ceramic tile surfaces
  • Application over piped and electric underfloor heating

Add 500g Microne Plus to 10kg Tub of Microne & mix well with a microcement mixer. That’s a mix ratio of 1:20.

Then add the Terrazzo Flakes and mix gently on a slow speed.  Take care not to mix too aggressively as this could cause the terrazzo to break down.

Use a Microcement Trowel and hold it quite flat to the surface. Don’t put as much pressure on as you did with the base coats to avoid crushing the flakes.

Gently spread the terrazzo across the area so that you have full coverage. After 20 minutes to 1 hour, use a hard foam float, in circular motions to remove imperfections and bring the terrazzo flakes to the surface.

Leave Microne to dry for at least 12 hours. This timing is for guidance only, your microcement may take longer to dry depending on temperature and humidity.

Sand with 40 grit sand paper to reveal the terrazzo in the microcement.  This will be a lot easier with an orbital sander than by hand. Once you have revealed a good, even spread of crystals, move onto the 80 grit sand paper and give the whole area another sand. Finally, use a 120 grit sand paper to tidy up your wark and close in the pours.
