Clay One Rustic Plus® is a clay-based, waterproof mortar with a performance that far exceeds that of single component microcements. It’s more stain resistant, heat resistance and the compressive strength is significantly higher at 50 MPa. Yet it benefits from all the organic aesthetic of earthy materials. Incredibly natural, stony patina for a time-weathered look. This exciting new product can be used on almost all surfaces including bathrooms & outdoors.

Unlike other mineral coatings, Clay One Rustic® comes ready to use, eliminating mixing errors and reducing application time. Its consistency and body allow it to be worked with different tools to achieve more organic or mineral effects, depending on the pressure and movement of the applicator.

Fully waterproof and requiring no catalysts, Clay One Rustic ® stands out as a new-generation technical and aesthetic solution, designed for projects seeking natural visual character, structural solidity, and timeless finishes.

The formula of the Clay One Rustic® microcement line, is characterised by being incredibly versatile, as it consists of two possible products in one.

Clay One Rustic® can be applied in a single-component, as ‘ready-to-use’ microcement with a hardness of 27 MPa. Choose Clay One Rustic Plus ‘dual component’ microcement with the addition of Microne Plus Comp B (Catalyst), which increases its hardness to 50 MPa.

Clay One Rustic Plus® has excellent surface hardness, adhesion, impact resistance and resistance to abrasion.   It has a far superior resistance to heat and staining when compared to the single-component alternative.

Unlike may microcements on the market, Clay One Rustic is completely waterproof, even before sealers. This is essential for wet environments like showers, wet rooms and bathrooms. Where it does the jobs of a tanking product and a decorative surface finish in one.

Thanks to its high impermeability it is not necessary to apply pre-sealers, two coats of AquaMax is enough to avoid dust and stains. Which, due to the low absorption rate of Clay One Rustic, is extremely easy to apply.

Clay One Rustic facilitates one of the quickest microcement installation times known at 3 – 4 days.

Clay One Rustic is the ideal choice for:

  • Tanking and decorating shower enclosures, shower trays, wet rooms and bathrooms
    • Highly decorative continuous coatings for interior floors, walls and ceilings
    • Coating of interior and exterior furniture, shelves, kitchen countertops, counters
    • Not suitable for swimming pools or continuously immersed surfaces
    • Covering of old ceramic tile surfaces

Add 500g Microne Plus to 10kg Tub of Clay One Rustic & mix well with a microcement mixer. That’s a mix ratio of 1:20.

Once mixed, you’ll have around 2 hours working time, so only mix what you need and make sure you’re ready to apply it straight away.

Let the mixture rest for a few minutes before applying.

It’s important that you go as thin as the grain with Clay One Rustic.

Using a Microcement Trowel, work your way out from one corner creating a random edge pattern. Keep trowel movements small and random, avoid long sweeping arches – as these will show through to your final finish.

Use the grain in the microcement as your level – if you apply the microcement thicker than the size of the grain, the finish won’t be as strong and will require a lot more sanding. Run the trowel back over each section that you have put down to smooth it out and remove excess product.

Completely cover each surface without stopping. For complete rooms, start with ceilings, then walls from left to right (or right to left) and then the floor.

Run your finger or a corner trowel along internal corners to push the microcement into the corner and then gently trowel away the excess product.

Once dry, apply a thin coat of Microne Fine Neutral over the Clay One Rustic.

I’ve done quite a few jobs now over the past four years and can’t fault it. There’s a product for every need! It’s easy to apply once you get the hang of it and anything that you’re not sure about relentless are there to advise you. The only problem you’ll have is deciding which colour to choose !
