Base Coat Colour Not Matching Sample/Swatch Book
Because the Base Coats are completely covered by the Top Coats, we don’t spend a lot of time getting an accurate colour match with them, we just provide you with a “hint of colour” to the 2nd Base Coat.
As long the colour in the 2nd Base Coat has some colour to it, then you won’t have any problems.
And just to reassure you, we have a robust process for making sure the Top Coats are an accurate match to swatch books, so we’re confident the end result will be a good match.
Microne Top Coat Not Matching Sample/Swatch Book
We mix all the Microne colours in house, to order. Before sending them out we test a sample from each tub against the swatch book & tweak as required until we are confident that we have an accurate match.
Because of this, we rarely have problems with colour accuracy, and we have a record of all the tubs that get sent out.
If you do feel the colour of the top coat isn’t a good match to the swatch or swatch book, then please get in touch. So that we can review the records that we have on file for your order.
If you do have concerns over colour, don’t stop halfway through a surface. Finish installing the coat up to the external edges. You can always go on top with a new colour, but it’s important not to leave ridges in the surface.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT APPLY SEALERS
It’s important to hold off on applying the sealers if you have concerns about the colour. Once the sealer is applied, changing the colour is a lot more involved after sealers have been applied than before.
Microdur Medium or Fine Looks Too Light
Mineral based microcements, like Microdur Medium and Fine, darken when they have been sealed. So, when you apply them, you might think they look too light, but don’t worry, we have compensated for the sealers and once applied, you will get a good match to the swatch book/samples.
If you want to check what the colour is going to be like when it’s sealed, then you can wet it a little. This will darken the colour similar to how it will look when sealed. Do this in a discreet place as it could possible leave a mark once sealed. Make sure it is fully dried out before sealing.
Top Coat, Sample or Swatch Book Not Matching Colours on Website
Unfortunately, colours can vary quite dramatically from screen to screen, so we do always recommend getting a sample or swatch book before deciding on a colour.
The best way to be sure that the colour is right for you, is to get a physical sample, or swatch book & review it in the room where it will be installed, as lighting makes a big difference too.
