Mixing MicroMetals with Aquatix
Micrometal is mixed with Aquatix to form a metal paste that can be applied to walls by trowel to give them a fine coat of metal on the surface.
Once applied, the metal surface can be oxidised to create a truly unique patina.
The standard consumption for MicroMetals is 10kg for 10m2, across 2 coat. The pot life of MicroMetals is 1-3 hours, so it’s best to mix larger amounts in batches.
You will need a mixing bucket and microcement mixer.
Mixing the MicroMetal
You will need 10kg of MicroMetal to complete 2 coats over 10m2.
Add the MicroMetal to a mixing bucket and add a small amount of Aquatix, mix thoroughly, then continue to add small amounts of Aquatix until it reaches a workable consistency. The amount of Aquatix required does vary depending on the metal.
The approximate mixing ratios for Micrometals are:
5kg Iron Powder : 1l Aquatix
5kg Copper Powder : 300-350ml Aquatix
5kg Bronze Powder : 300-350ml Aquatix
Let the mixture rest for a few minutes before applying. Keep a lid on it between coats. Working time is 1 – 3 hours.
