Fixing Bubbles in Fibreglass Mesh During Application

So that you get a good adhesion to the microcement with no gaps, the fibreglass mesh is intended to be laid flat against the surface.

Sometimes though, the mesh becomes folded or bubbles whilst your applying the primer or after the primer has dried.

This guide tells you everything you need to know about fixing the issue if it should arise.

Fixing Bubbles in Mesh Whilst Using Primer 100 & 1st Base Coat

If you’re getting bubbles in the mesh whilst using Primer 100, slash the bubble with a knife or the edge of the trowel and go over it again with the roller, this should stick it back down flat to the surface.

If you notice bubbles after the Primer has dried or whilst you are applying your first base coat, you can use the same technique to flatten the bubble whilst applying your 1st Base Coat.

Fixing Bubbles After 1st Base Coat has Dried

If you notice bubbles in the first base coat, after it has dried, then sand them out before applying your second base coat.

By now, you’ll have a good coverage of mesh over the majority of the surface, so its better to sand a few areas than risk having any voids in the surface.

Fixing Bubbles in the Fibreglass Mesh whilst Applying Impripox

If any bubbles protrude in the mesh whilst using Epoxy, slash the bubble with a knife or the edge of the trowel and go over it again with the trowel, this should stick it back down flat to the surface. If you notice bubbles in the epoxy after it has dried, then sand them out before applying your 1st base coat.
